Problem::

Whenever I open a folder, another folder with the same name is created under it.

Solution::

Your system is infected by a variant of Indonesian virus called Brontok/Rontokbro. It creates a sub-folder in a folder with same name. Most of the times it comes from mobile memory cards. Scan with a good anti-virus and remove the virus. Also download HijackThis and scan your system with it in Safe Mode, then fix following entries:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\SSVICHOSST.exe

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe SSVICHOSST.exe

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Yahoo Messengger] C:\WINDOWS\system32\SSVICHOSST.exe

How to assign a drive letter

To assign a drive letter to a drive, a partition, or a volume, follow these steps:

1. Log on as Administrator or as a member of the Administrators group.
2. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Performance and Maintenance.

Note : If you do not see Performance and Maintenance, go to step 3. Performance and Maintenance appears in Control Panel only if you use Category view. If you use Classic view, Performance and Maintenance does not appear.

3. Click Administrative Tools, double-click Computer Management, and then click Disk Management in the left pane.

4. Right-click the drive, the partition, the logical drive, or the volume that you want to assign a drive letter to, and then click Change Drive Letter and Paths.

5. Click Add.

6. Click Assign the following drive letter if it is not already selected, and then either accept the default drive letter or click the drive letter that you want to use.

7. Click OK.

The drive letter is assigned to the drive, to the partition, or to the volume that you specified, and then that drive letter appears in the appropriate drive, partition, or volume in the Disk Management tool.

There is a hidden feature in Windows XP and not plenty of users know anything about it. You can setup a banner with a message in it. Each time your Windows boots up the same banner will pop up. The message can be anything from a welcome message to some important information. You can use it in the way you require. Follow the simple steps given below to setup a banner for your Windows method:

* To start with, go to “start” –> “run”.
* Type “regedit” and hit Enter.
* A brand spanking new window will open named “registry editor”. In the left panal of the “registry editor”, go to the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>Microsoft>Windows>CurrentVersion>policies system
* Now right click on the right panel, choose “new”,Select “string value”. A brand spanking new “string value” will be created.
* Right click on it and choose “rename”. Type “LegalNoticeCaption” .
* Right click on that “string value” and choose “modify”. On the “value information:” area, type the text or value that you require to see in the title bar of the banner.
* Now generate yet another new “string value” in the right panel and “rename” it to “LegalNoticeText”.
* Right click on that “string value” and choose “modify”. On the “value information:” part, type the message you require to display each time windows boots.
* Now, close the “registry editor”.
* Restart your computer.

Now, after the “boot screen” and before the “welcome screen” a brand spanking new banner will pop up which contains your message and an “OK” button. The users must click on the “OK” button to proceed.

Remove Recent Programs From Start MenuWindows save list of recently opened files and show them in start menu. Its very convinient to find files. But if you wanna some privacy, if you don;t want others to see which files and programs you opened than you can hide recent files. To remove recent items from start menu just follow these steps: 1). Right click on taskbar and click on Properties. 2). Click on start menu tab. 3). Uncheck the check boxes under privacy. 4). Click ok. Its done. Click on start menu and check recent items and recent programs, they must not be in start menu. Start menu will look like this figure.

1.Open Command Prompt. Go to Start , then Run. In Run option type cmd and click OK. After this will openCommand Prompt, or Start->All Programs ->Accessories->Command Prompt
 

2. In Command Prompt write at 13:55 /interactive “cmd.exe” and press enter , the time is usually a minute or five ahead of your present time in the 24 hours format.

After a minute or five will appear new Comand Prompt Window wit different title bar. it's changed from cmd.exe to svchost.exe.
 
3. End current explorer.exe method. Open Task Manager, select explorer.exe and click End method.
 
4. In new Comand Prompt with title svchost.exe write cd.. and press enter , then write explorer.exe and press enter.

I FOUND OUT HOW TO FIX THE DISABLED SETTINGS AND GIVE YOU LIFETIME LICENSE

1)Uninstall Norton Completely
2)Run the norton remover found on the first page of this thread, run the program BOX_NTR2011.exe, to remove all traces.
3)Restart PC, Install the Norton Trial Software.
4)DO NOT RUN THE CRACK YET IT WILL NOT WORK.

*Note* Install the latest crack at the bottom of the first page not the one that came in the full package.

5)Restart your PC and press f8 to go into safe mode!. You need to be in safe mode for the crack to work!. You should see 4 "OK" popups, that way you know it worked.
6)Restart PC to normal startup and norton should have almost lifetime license AND THE SETTINGS BUTTON SHOULD WORK. If the settings button doesnt work you didnt follow or skipped some of these steps!

The problem with the crack is that it wouldnt unload norton in order to apply the crack. You had to go into safe mode where norton wasnt running.
